Hi, I have a 206 1.9 diesel and the cambelt has snapped does this mean the engine will be shot???? i have been told that i will need a new engine for it could someone please advice me on this asap ....

Well it will depend what else is has damaged in the process, you might need a new set of valves you might be alright. It's hard to say without looking in the engine in all honesty.
How fast were you driving when it snapped?

I would think you might be ok and you might get away with just replacing the cam belt and water pump, it's worth having it checked though Sorry i can't help much more but nothing can be certain without seeing it

The 1.9 diesel normally snaps the camshaft in to 3 bits when the timing belt breaks

If it does that to the camshaft what does it do to big end bearings? Flat spots on bearings is not good news either; usually results in bearings shot about 2,000 miles later. Do these Peugeots do that?
