Obviously you have broke that then. Either a loose wire/connection or you've just broke the cluster.

Lee, is it worth me removing the cluster complete to check if the bulb holder has a dry solder possibly? I cant see it being a fuse as a fuse often protects more than one item and nothing else is disabled.
Edit; my good Lady has just reminded me the speedo dropped from 40mph to 0mph then back up to 40mph again within the space of 2 seconds, could this indicate forthcoming probs with the cluster?
Car is 1.4 8v, W reg.

Thanks for replies, this may sound thick, but, i've very large hands and tend to be heavy handed, the back of the dash has two connectors, how do you disconnect them before i stumble in and break them?

Using your thumb and index finger just push down the tab and the black locking mechanism will move.

If u got light for the background but no digit disply then possible will be broken connection on the ultra thin ribbon wire.

Same thing happen to me when i try to fix my ppt30 display, i manage to fix the backlight but found that lost some of the digits on screen due to broken ribbon wire.

Please be extra care if u decide to dismantle the speedo and fix it urself. Cause the ribbon wire is fixed on the circuit board with some kind of conducting clue (not normal soldering).

if just back light problem, remove the bulb near the milage display, with the ignition turn to on (no need to start). Use a torch to light up the position of the milage meter (through the hole where u remove the bulb). If u can see your milage then will be just lighting (bulb connection). If not most likely your ribbon wire connection is f@cked up. Better off find urself a second hand unit.

Ps: if your rev and speed cluster still working, it is worth for u to keep the old one as spare just in case the cluster failed ( especially the pre plex 1)

Hi all, i have the same problem with milage display not on, checked the last two MOTs and under milage it says not displayed, could this be as simple as a fuse blown? All the other dials and displays work fine. Thanx.
