My cars being a bit of a b***h lately. Sometimes it doesn't start. But I'm pretty confident it's immoboliser/battery related.

So sometimes it doesn't start (I can tell if it's not going to start, because as i glow it, It makes no noise....And when it will start it makes that slight humming noise).

My normal procedure to get it going is unlock/lock it a bunch of times, open the bonnet, make the alarm go off (Sometimes the alarm simply doesn't go off). Sometimes the remote stops working if I lock/unlock it too frequently.

Eventually when I glow it, the humming noise starts, and it fires straight up.

Any ideas? Cheers bro's

What do you mean 'glow' it? What is the noise, engine and age would help here.

The humming noise? Is that the fuel pump priming?

It's a 53 2.0L HDI.

Well normally when you turn the key and wait a couple whilst it glows, it makes a slight humming noise (I don't know what this noise indicates, but it happened on my old diesel 306 aswell, so I'm guessing it's normal). But when it doesn't make this noise, the car won't start. Could be the fuel pump priming?

Okay. Now it won't start at all. Yesterday morning it woke me off by the alarm going of for no reason. And since then, the humming noise, the fuel pump isn't priming at all. So the car started for about 1/2. Second and then died. And now nothing. What part of the car does the immobiliser immobilise? Does it prevent the fuel pump from working, or something else?

It's a shame because I fancied going into uni and getting some serious work underway today and now I'm stuck at home Sad

I've already tried a BSI reset to no avail.

Is the alarm randomly going off a coincidence? Or related. Thanks guys

I get the feeling the BSI is sulking as the battery is defective Laughing

Trying disconnecting the battery for 30 mins with no luck. And does that mean low battery?

I'll test the battery and I'm going to get a diag tool on it this week aswell, see if that gives any clue.

Is there a inertia fuel sut-off switch or anything that because be stopping the fuel pump? I checked the fuel pump fuse and its not that. Getting my diag tool in the next couple of days but it would be great if i could find out what the fault is now so I'm not stranded, bored as s**t at home.

Technically NO, as its multiplexed the fuel safety cut off is linked in to the airbag ecu.

Does the Airbag ECU only cut the fuel off when it's been shunted? Or could that have happened? If so, how do you reset an airbag ECU to make the fuel pump work again?

I've tried jumping it off my mums car, so I'm assuming it's not the battery.

The diag tool arrived and it doesn't work :/ It comes up with some error that says make sure ignition is turned on and cable is connected. Does this mean anything? ECU malfunction?

Im having exact same issue with my 206 sw, difference is that mine while running has shut down twice now. Its not battery either (I have it checked already).

Any update on this??
