Hi' decided to perform Compression Test, removed Fuel pump fuse firstly, cylinders tested using screw in guage: All cylinders came in at 230 psi, car is 2002 model 206 GTI 2.0 16v , has done 120,000 klms from new. Maybe it could have been 228 psi as often guages can be out by 2 or 3 psi.
What is the 2.0 16v engine compression meant to be? Is this close enough? from previous forum messages persons seem to be more worried about them being equal with no mention of original compression spec. Looking forward to your comments on this topic.

As a general rule it is more important that all cylinders are reading within roughly 10% of each other. Reason for this is if one piston ring/piston/bore/valve is damaged it will show low compression on one cylinder. It would be virtually unheard of to have damage and drop compression on all cylinders.
If you have good level readings across the board I would be happy that you have a healthy engine.

Yeah I do agree with ej_sir, but who knows what the psi reading should be?

Come on Guys! can somebody tell me just what it should be? I mean actual PSI, not it's fine or it's ok when they are close to being equal. We people in the colonies just need numbers, lots of clever people were shipped to Australia in 1777 on convict ships, they made love on arrival & I am one of their progeny so watch out.

Nobody will know the text book answer. All we know is the numbers look healthy.

You don't know the numbers, but you expect someone else to? Maybe Lees figures are wrong, maybe you'll blow your engine! Maybe you'll calm down now though?

Filters in applications work on strings generally not individual letters so no reason why RS would ever be filtered.
