Surely you might aswell just buy some decent pads/discs instead of spending all the extra. Think sensible Wink

Does anyone know if the GTi coolant hoses will fit the GTi180?
Ie I am looking at the Samco hoses but they only list for the GTi?
Also... If I were to get some nuts & studs to replace the wheel bolts what size would I be looking at?
pretty sure it's 1.25x??

As for the brakes, couldn't you get some Brembo's in Pug Fitment (406 coupe or similar?) I know there's a couple of issues re spacers etc. Couldn't you have the calipers shaved a little to compensate? Maybe even some custom carriers or something?

Wilwoods are good, but you pay dearly for them!

You'd be surprised mate, Wilwoods aren't that expensive, they just don't make carriers to suit my car, so they wouldn't fit!

they will only fit if you buy a gti radiator aswell.

because the bottom house push's inside and click in on a gti180 and on gti they just hold on buy jubilee clip.

!

But having a set of calipers with a name on them, that cost the better half of £1000 and are not needed thaaat much/not worth the money isnt exactly exciting Laughing

Wouldnt it be a better idea to see how the car does with some braided hoses, discs and pads.

It's not so much the name though.

The 180 discs are 283mm, my LCR ones are just over 300mm iirc.

The single piston 180 calipers are nowhere near as good as the 4pot Brembo's that are on the LCR.

I know the disc's are a little bigger on the Leon, but its a bigger, heavier car as well. The braking power of the 4 pistons is much better than the 180 single pistons. Some LCR's don't have Brembo's either, and the difference between 4 pot and single pot is alot

Wheel Studs should be 12x1.25 IIRC.

Dont go cheap on brakes, just pay the £100-150 to get the caliper brackets made up to mount something good like AP. Might want to buy a set with dust seals on the pistons too.

Dust seals are a definite Wink
I'm not very clued up on brakes, so if I was going to go for Wilwoods, what exactly would I need, and how would I go about getting a bracket?!
