Going to give mine a clean and the VVT Solenoid hopefully do the trick.

Yeah seems underpowered under 2k revs. Instead of buying things willy nilly get yourself some carb cleaner remove the VVT solenoid and the idle control value and give them a blast. Cans are about £4 delivered off ebay probably similar in halfords.

1.6....VVT solenoid?
I didnt think the 1.6's had VVT.
Bad plugs or coil pack could cause it but so could alot of other things, take it to a garage and get the codes read.

Correct, it hasnt
Only the GTI 180 & the 1.4 16 valve in the 206 have VVT fitted.

Personally I dont see how the ICV could make you lose power at the low end.
Could it not be crappy fuel or dodgy injector or cam timing?
What about your exhaust is there any blowing from it?
Have you cleaned your air filter out?

its running rich atm, i had it on diagnostics it came up with water coolant sensor, MAP sensor which i had them replaced, my coilpack and plugs were replaced, but it also came up with throttle actuator, but my throttle is cable so i dont understand? but when its idling or put into neutral it does continuously drop and go below 500rpm and stall most times? some mornings its fine then some days are bad and it stalls? its driving me mad! so gonna have the idle control valve replaced, and would the throttle actuator explain my loss of power under slight throttle? i have a 2000 reg 1.6 8v xs?

I have the same problem on my gti 137, have replaced the icv but it's still having the same issues where the revs drop right down when car is stationary and then cuts out, took the car to my local garage and they checked it on their diagnostics machine and it read 0 error codes so going to take it apart and clean it and see how that goes

-sighs-
Just because no error code has been flagged doesnt mean the sensor is not dying, as it can still be within the ECU's tolerance but just not enough to flag a code. Garages will never learn this.
Matty PM me, as i may be able to assist
But back to the OP the throttle actuator i 'think' is also refered to as the throttle position sensor located below the ICV, get one from a scrappy and try
