Hi all,

Quick question about coolant.

My car has started beeping shortly after starting the engine. a red light comes on the lower right of the dash (I've looked in the handbook and this is where the coolant warning light is located but it's gone again so fast that it's hard to be sure).

Yesterday I had a message flash up on the radio display which again appeared and disappeared again straight away but I think I caught the words "top up" & "coolant".

Is there a way to check the coolant level manually? I've had a look at the bottle I can't see any level markings on it.

Just wondering if I should top it up anyway and if so would tap water be ok or do I need to buy some special coolant?

Many thanks for your help

Matt

The best way to check is to shine a small light on the bottle, look into the coolant bottle and slowly move it up, when the coolant stops being illuminated you've reached the top of the coolant level, if it's in the middle of the bottle then your about right.

Or at least thats how i do it because my bottles stained on me 1.4, just don't fill it up to the top.
