On the way to work this morning my MFD flagged up saying "Battery Charge Fault". I wasn't far from work so thought I'd carry on and sort it out but then the engine wouldn't rev and I couldn't pull away from the traffic lights.
It now won't start and I've just been towed home. There is no charge on the battery, we did get the engine started once but it didn't sound very healthy and wouldn't rev up even with my foot flat.
I am initially thinking it's the alternator gone and all these other problems are just due to the battery being flat. I've had all the "Airbag fault" and "ABS fault" and "Braking fault" come up on the display.
Any ideas before I go out and buy an alternator?
Thanks in advance

Well the battery will be f****d now too so go and buy a good battery charger and leave it on a slow charge.

Yeh it will be on charge overnight but do you think it definitely is a new alternator job?

Put a charged battery on it. Then check the voltage across the alternator and see if its charging or not.

you have a faulty alten.,but you have to make sure it's not charging well,or is't over charging, because these 2 cases cause what you said.

Thanks for the replies. I'm going to get an alternator and fit it tomorrow morning. Hopefully this and a charge if the battery and I'll be on my way again
