Sounds to me like a tracking problem. Unbalanced wheels would only cause horrible vibrations through the steering wheel and cause numbness in the hands and fingers.(I have felt this before)

It could all be down to having 2nd hand tyres put on your car.
In future save up & get decent tyres.

Pm Cartoonhead for a quote.

Two things I would advise is never use part worn tyres as you never know the history of them and if your going to use motorway's get breakdown cover, The company's the highways agency use charge over £100+ just to remove your car from the motorway.

just had the tracking done and had the driver shaft changed on driver side. now the car does not turn when braking but the steering is still a bit loose sometimes the wheel moves left and right and it is still not straight at all times. while driving the car moves a bit left and right it self. its like sitting in a death trap.

any ideas what the problem could be? the wishbones are ok on both sides and there is no play in the wheels.
tire pressure for all 4 tires is at 32psi. wheels have been balanced. tires have been changed.
