It's not like I didn't try!
I'll have a fair amount of cash saved by xmas, not sure whether to waste it on a 987 Boxster despite their image, or get the M3 I've always wanted... Decisions decisions!

Buy a tidy non multiplexed 138 GTi end do everything you wanted to do to it!

Good luck with the sale.

However, wouldn't it be cheaper to turbo charge it? From the money you get from selling and whatever you had planned to spend on the engine, would you be able to get something better in the form of another car? eg you buy a Focus ST, you'd then need to spend tons getting everything up to the spec the 180 was at...

In regards to spending £5k modding your 206, it's a hobby isn't it, some people spend their money on fashion/drugs/alcohol/cameras, you spend your money on cars Smile

I'm 20 as well, if I were you I'd stick with the 206, I know I've got a dozen other things to spend my cash on other than my car. I'm looking to upgrade power wise in about 2 years once I have a full time job, be it by turbo charging my 206 or buying another car and starting again.

Yes I agree - good luck with the sale - it has been RACED on a RACETRACK!

Most sensible people here in the UK don't spend that amount of money on drugs or alcohol AusScare, although I feel your pain.

At the end of the day, if you want a fast car, buy a fast car. Maybe something like a Subaru Impreza WRX Sti, although I have heard that if anything goes wrong you will be looking at a bill of in excess of £1,000!

The people on this forum who own GTi 180's, I suspect, have bought them because they are:

1> Relatively cheap to insure.
2> Quite rapid, even as stock.
3> Return half-decent mpg figures.
4> Relatively cheap to fix.

Although this is my experience of the 180, it won't be the same as everyone else's on this forum, so here is a disclaimer:

I am 38 years old, I don't race on the road anymore due to being older and wiser. Relatively cheap means not in excess of £200. Quite rapid means just as quick as a Honda Integra TypeR (2.0l), (don't ask!) Over the last 7,000 miles, I have averaged 28.9mpg and I have a quite heavy right foot Very Happy

Onyx Black 2005 206 GTi 180, 44K miles, FSH, standard (apart from a K&N panel air filter, Angel Eyes and groovey rear & groovey front holy discs!)

Data you might wanna get your keyboard looked at, seems it has a sticky caps lock key Wink

I am fully aware of what the car has done, but I am equally aware of how well I have kept it maintained.
