i am still having no look with my drivers seat, i have had a good look under it and have tock it out and fiddled with it but still can not get it to slide forwards after it has folded forwards, everything seems to be there and straight. What does the short cable do, as that does not seem to move on any lever fuction????

Is it in the right place, as in is the cable loose as it should be a solid connection with little movement,

i have found the problem, it was the arm that pulled the cable is bent up inside the seat (god knows how) so it misses the pin to pull the cable, so i have tried to bend it bk in the seat with little success as it is riveted to the internals of the seat so i have just glued a washer to the side of the pin so that the arm can not slide off the side anymore. it will do for now.

So you're saying the seat slide adjusts ok with the manual bar at the front of the seat but doesn't slide when you tilt the seat back forwards?

The mechanism should like this. The manual bar at the front of the seat takes the spring load off and releases the seat from that top hat looking pin. The pin connects the seat to the small slider in the rails. The cable shown here should do the same thing and release the spring load which frees the seat to move. It sounds like maybe the cable end shown here is detached or broken?

it was the other end in the up right part of the seat. there's a lever arm with a jaw on it and when u let the seat forward it moves and pulls another arm with a pin so the jaw catch's it which the cable attaches to but it was missing the 2nd arm so did not pull the cable.

Right, that makes sense as the cable is required to release the catch. Going to be able to fix it? Take some pictures if you can and post them up

this was my little fix before and after
in this 1st pic you can see the lever arm that is missing the pin to pull the wire
in the second pic you can see the washer glued on the end. 1 day i will try and get it welded on. ( just dont want the seat to go up, lol)
