airbag light not working is also an instant MOT failed ![Laughing Laughing](images/smiles/icon_lol.gif)

The airbag light must come on briefly on ignition and then turn off to pass MOT
Something to keep in mind, if you need to buy a new airbag ECU, is that the serial numbers MUST match up identically to the ones in your vehicles airbag ECU.
Also the airbag ECU MUST be from the same 'plex' as yours and obviously not from a donor vehicle which has been in the slightest accident as the seat belt pre-tentioners may have fired and they arnt such an obvious fault as the airbag themselves.

Just take the bulb out to get it through then deal with the problem afterwards? The seat belts are also linked to this btw because when i took my rear belts out my airbag light kept flashing.

The rear seatbelts on a 206 are NOT linked in to the srs system.

Rotary switch if the car is NON multiplexed.
Com2000 unit if it is multiplexed.
Whichever it is the steering wheel needs to be removed.
Check what eletrical system your 206 uses as 2001 is the cross over year BEFORE buying a replacement part!

my car is a multiplex i have sourced a new comms for £50, (2nd hand)
is the steering wheel etc hard to remove?
and also would the light extinguish itself upon the comms being replaced or will i have to go get it reset?

If the light is on due to a genuine airbag fault once it is fixed it should go out itself. If it's on due to a deployed airbag then it will need to be reset.

Correctly shut the BSI unit down & disconnect the battery.
Airbag is held on with a spring clip, feel the back of the bottom spoke on the steering wheel, insert flat blade screwdriver through it then push the clip upwards to release the 2 airbag spring clips.
Torx 50 / 55 ( cant remember which ) screw in middle of steering wheel holds it on.
Undo it slightly a couple of turns but DONT remove it yet, smack the back of the steering wheel towards you to free it from the splines, then you can remove the bolt.
If the bolt is fully removed before the steering wheel is smacked free of the splines you risk ripping the com wires out & / or smacking yourself in the face with the steering wheel when it breaks free, both have been done before on here ![Rolling On The Floor Laughing Rolling On The Floor Laughing](images/smiles/icon_rofl.gif)

Update - many thanks for all your help guys. the instrusctions on how to replace were perfect.
all is well now the problem is cured and the airbag light is finally off.
note tho - at the mot re test he did make me switch the engine of and then switch it back on again to see tjhe light was working so simply removing the bulb etc will not work!
thanks guys
