Dont go cheap on brakes, just pay the £100-150 to get the caliper brackets made up to mount something good like AP. Might want to buy a set with dust seals on the pistons too.

Ed, do you think PhilipM or Carl could knock up a set of brackets for 406 Brembo calipers that would allow them to be fitted without spacers?

Phil could do it, but I know he's not always the quickest (Sorry if you read this phil!).

I could knock some up but dont really have the time for the next 3-4 months.

One of the ways id prefer doing it would be 2 part discs rather than moving the caliper. Although this is almost always more expensive.

Thinking of John's calipers are you Graham?
Also, what are everyone's views on Compbrake, I have never heard a bad word about them, and they can set me up with some topmounts too!
To be honest I didn't think I'd be able to afford them, but if I can then I'm more than inclined to get them!

Nah I'd rather get the 406 Brembos, its something I've toyed with for a while but its one of those things I'd need to be a guinea pig for.

Anyway...back on topic.

What length though?
I have options for;

12mm x 1.25 040mm long 28mm exposed length

All the way up to;

12mm x 1.25 080mm long 68mm exposed length

Standard GTi 180 Discs are 283mm by 26mm with a height of 34.2mm.
I have run HiSpec 4 pot calipers and am currently running the Brembo 4 pots from a 406 with these discs. The Bembo's with DS 3000 pads provide excellent stopping power but do tend to make a lot of noise!

I would also suggest that you investigate 65mm or 85mm Peugeot Sport wheel studs. Again I have used both these and the cheaper studs available and there is no comparison. They are available from Andy at AB Motorsport.

I am investigating whether I can use Wilwood calipers and 283mm discs using custom fabricated brackets Very Happy

Have you got your EW10J4S running on Jenveys now?
What issues did you have setting it all up?

Car is running now but we are developing the inlet manifold to improve the oil drainage from the head. Hope to have it back together next weekend.

Hope you are thinking of using some form of LSD as this conversion is quite exciting to drive!

The set your looking at are for a 205 and are £750...ish

I can find out if they do a 206 kit and probably get that down to around £650 with a bit of blagging
