I had a similar thing happen on my old car (Megane, unfortunately) turns out a valve spring shattered.

Over revved thus having a scenario of a floating lifter thus bent a lifter leading to the rest of the damage that's what happend to mine nealy 2 years back.

Its the valve........ probably broke its head off and mashed piston. It would explain why the plugs damaged too. I would say the cam is partly responsible here. Too tight a tolerance to the piston..... miss one gear and its contact time

is that mean you could partly blame the lifter too?
i never like the idea of running wild cam with hydraulic lifters

I'd say it was just a dodgy valve. there's too much of the plug left for it to have been that. High revving cam on old valves and its sheared and dropped in.

I have 280 cams with hydrolic lifters it's just my subframe Witch was at fault!!! (gear pivot) snapped thus putting my gear in 1st insed of 3rd witch over reved leading to blowing my engine

Lol it did do it alright so if you ever have your sub frame off just check the weld that holds the gear pivot...learn from my expensive mistake.

At a rally a few weeks ago.... 2nd gear right hander-short straight-2nd gear left hander opening long..... I held it on the limiter between the two corners and it let go on the exit of the left opener as I changed to 3rd..... oops

Its not good........ engine is at the builders and he cant start assembling it till Monday.... and its FCS next weekend and its booked to go out on track

That's why I didn't even buy a ticket as I'm not sure mine will be done in time I'll have the custom work done just not a remap as the waiting list is like 3weeks so getting that done in July.

did you source a 2nd hand engine or you rebuild it with parts?
