I had a similar thing happen on my old car (Megane, unfortunately) turns out a valve spring shattered.
What\'s wrong with it now?

Over revved thus having a scenario of a floating lifter thus bent a lifter leading to the rest of the damage that's what happend to mine nealy 2 years back.

Its the valve........ probably broke its head off and mashed piston. It would explain why the plugs damaged too. I would say the cam is partly responsible here. Too tight a tolerance to the piston..... miss one gear and its contact time

is that mean you could partly blame the lifter too?

i never like the idea of running wild cam with hydraulic lifters

I'd say it was just a dodgy valve. there's too much of the plug left for it to have been that. High revving cam on old valves and its sheared and dropped in.
This 206 IS going on a trackday despite it's every effort to stay at home in the garage!

Lol it did do it alright so if you ever have your sub frame off just check the weld that holds the gear pivot...learn from my expensive mistake.
