But then upgrade the 138 suspension and you end up with a car handling better than a 180. THis is why to modify it makes sense to buy a 138 but to keep standard get the 180.

But you'd still need to upgrade the brakes, & sort the wheels & tyres, & the interior to match the spec of a 180. By then it's probably cost more than a 180 & will still only be a 138. You've also turned it into a money pit unless you plan to keep it forever.

Wheels and tyres? The 16" wheels on the 138 are better than the 180 wheels.

Better for what? & by how much? Because I don't see many people selling their 180 wheels for 138's....
Ultimate performance & fractions of a difference isn't the only criteria for a road car.

All personal opinion but I think the 180 looks super-chavvy! I wouldn't have one given.. The 138 goes nicely under the radar which is perfect for us for a runabout.. Although I'd love the 180's interior!

Infact scrap that, I'd have a 180 if it looked just like the 138 on the outside..

Wheels, spoiler, exhaust all awful.

Cant stand the 180 interior.

Only things really worth having on the 180 are the curtain airbags & ESP which are both fitted as standard on the later GTI 138 anyway.

The rest of the GTI 180 tat & trinkets are easily bolted on to any 206 if you really want to.

180's are going for less than 2k atm, Its if you can afford the insurance and running costs.

don't think you will find a good180 for 2k that does not need money spent on it and that has been looked after.

not a huge fan of the 180 but i wouldn't tell someone not to buy one, if i could afford to run one, got one for a very good price with no issues i would have one i guess but it's not likely.
