If I could ever be asked I'd love to see a 206 GTi /180 VS Clio RS track day (obviously limited to 172/182/197's)

Although it would be up in the air, I.e. different track exp ect ect it would be good for people to see that the 206 GTI/180 isn't as s**te as made out.

A bit long.com though lol.

My 206 138 isn't even remotely close to my 197 Cup.. In a straight line it would put a lot of distance between them, on the brakes it would hammer it (4 pot Brembos standard) but more so round the corners, well, I can't even describe tbh! The 206 isn't even on the same page it would have absolutely zero chance of gettin close! Get out of the Clio and into the 206 and it feels like it'll roll over in a corner..

Still, I quite like driving the 206.. It's just a bit crap!

It wouldn't be it's like 60+ bhp difference on name figures ie 138 & 197, and say 138's make 120+ and 197's make 170+ it's still 50bhp.

Put my old 300bhp Focus ST against another 250bhp ST and the 300 would leave it for dead...

197 - 180 Very close on straights, the 197's are quite wide compared so should be better. 172/182's very similar from what I've seen.

Also the 197 does have bespoke suspension which gives it the edge over others.
If I keep the 197 I'll happily set up a track day with a 180 owner and we can battle it out Twisted Evil

Why is the 180 being compared to a 197 which is about 4 times the price and around 5 years more advanced? Ofcource the 197 will be a better car! Bored to death of this forum lately.
Upgraded from 138 to 180

The last thing the 197 is about is straight line speed, they seem to make a genuine 180.. So not great.

Not sure your point regarding the Focus, my old 300hp Saab had 390lbft and would leave most things dead including one or two tuned ST's! Never mind the XK8 4.2s and a standard 335d!

Infact I doubt my 197 is any quicker than my old 172 Cup! But even that was better in the bends than the 206! The 197 is literally like a track car (with the cup suspension) its too good, really.. Even the 200 is softer!!

I've had my 180 for a few months and it doesn't put a smile on my face. It's too slow and under steers too much. I won't be keeping it very long.

Do you never hit over 5k revs ?? Haha I think they're quick, not stupidly fast but for the money they are quick but you have to rev them to get the power as you'll know obviously, and as for under steering mine goes where you point it so I can't fault that Smile

Disagree with this 300bhp ST bs a 250bhp ST I had a 1.9 diesel astra mapped at around 200bhp and my mate has a Focus RS and it could leave me for dead over a 5-6 mile run. Even on the straights it couldn't get that far ahead. Having said that though it was as fast as a 260bhp berg astra so many I just had a good one lol
