Hi,
I have a 206 2.0 HDI 51 plate, I have a problem with my coolant sensor.
Firstly the precheck working fine, before starting the car works the needle moves from the start to max, resets and does it again 3 times in a row, this shows the feed from the ECU to the gauge works.
I have tested the red wire to the sensor and that works fine I get voltage
, I have changed the sensor and the same problem, on the diagrams there are two wires going to the ECU,
I took the old sensor out and adapted a wire to earth. but this didnt solve the problem, the person I had the car off must have had heating problems as there is orange stains on the engine and a new radiator fitted.
What I want to know is, if I remove the ECU and disconnect the wires will this wipe or cause problems with imobiliser. I wanted to check continuity from both wires to make sure there was no breaks.

You can do that with no problems,but don't forget to disconnect your battery first in the right way,if you don't know what is this,search for the "Safe Reboot" in here to make sure everythings goes well.

Didn't know about this. Are you sure?

Are you sure? do you mean the needle doing pre check's, it seems to be prechecks and after 20 seconds it all settles down, oil gauge works all ok.
I've been through the guages, it seems that the air sensor someone chopped the wires and messed about with them, it doesn't directly relate to the collant but maybe linked in the ECU.
