Hi all,

MOT fail on both nearside and offside headlamp aim being too high, I tested the height switch on 3 which aims down and 0 aims up but was told on setting 0 that the headlamps must be at right height and is too high. He then said he had trouble setting it manually? I replaced the bulbs for dipped headlamps on both sides. Although the headlamps height can be electronically adjusted seems abit of a silly reason for it not to be advisory information?!

May 2012 I had front tyres and a nearside wishbone replaced and was told I need a new wishbone.

Called the company that fitted the tyres and replaced the wishbone and he mentioned the tyre can be fitted anyway round and with 1 year warranty hopefully the wishbone can be taken care of.

Free re-test within 7 days, with the tyre and wishbone hopefully taken care of is there anything else that I should be looking at to do? I had wishbone replaced 2 months ago the failure makes no sense.

Quote::

Offside front tyre not fitted in accordance with side wall instructions

Nearside front lower suspension arm ball joint dust cover excessively damaged so that it no longer prevents the ingress of dirt.

Nearside front lower suspension arm has excessive play in a ball joint.

Nearside front lower suspension arm has excessive play in a ball joint

Nearside inner front constant velocity joint gaiter damaged to the extent that it no longer prevents the ingress of dirt etc.

Thanks Cool

The lamps just need adjusting, he probably just couldn't be arsed but any MOT garage will be able to align them.

Cheap wishbones don't last with the state of UK roads!

You will find a lot of tyres have directional tyre pattern (can only fit one way)

Set the switch to 0 then get the headlamp beam alignment adjusted correctly.

I told the MOT tester why he couldn't adjust the lamps and he said "yours don't adjust manually for some reason and will have to be looked at properly." Will just have to look into this myself.. Mad

No wishbone replaced by garage should last 2 months, will a new wishbone anyway repair 003-005 or is there another part needed to be replaced?

Only the offside wheel clunks/knocks this is strange!

003 Nearside front lower suspension arm ball joint dust cover excessively damaged so that it no longer prevents the ingress of dirt.

004 Nearside front lower suspension arm has excessive play in a ball joint

005 Nearside inner front constant velocity joint gaiter damaged to the extent that it no longer prevents the ingress of dirt etc.

Thanks!
