has anyone tried fitting a 106 GTI/VTS engine in a 206???? will it work...??? thanks

I dont see why it wouldnt as the 1.6 16v engines are pretty much the same dimensions as the 106 gti engine.

Although I dont know if the wiring would be an issue.

Not sure it would be worth it though.

isnt this engine the same as the xsi 16v's lump and anything is possible mate!

Just do a jp4 engine conversion with loom and all. If your car is mux than buy the setup out of a mux car. If its pre buy it out of a pre car.

If for some odd reason you really require having a 1.6 16v in a 206 without buying one buy an xsi engine then it will a straight fit don't get a vts one. You will need to change a LOT more - main issue being the wiring but I know the upper engine mount is in a totally different location for a start

206 XSI engine has bigger valves than the VTS/106 GTi. Makes less power mostly because of the cams and exhaust manifold

I'd say it would only be worth it if you can warrant the need to take the engine out (current one broken, building the XSI motor to a better spec on a stand, painting the engine bay etc), otherwise you'd be better off buying an XSI to begin with
