Cut them off and see what happens  .. best advise I can think of..
I also have some of these.. the downside of buying a second hand (or more)

Looks like someone has spliced into that white wire. Can't see why you would need to do that and I can't see where that bundle of black cable is going? Perhaps it was someone's poor attempt of wiring in a amplifier?

the bundle of wire goes to nothing? just a very long wire wrapped up? anyone have an idea what tha white wire is for?
