Nissan Micra 1.4 auto (1993-2002 shape) is 80bhp and braked towing capacity is 650kg
Toyota Yaris 1.3 auto is a bit better at 86bhp and towing capacity 900kg

Peugeot 206 1.6 16V auto is 110bhp and can tow 1100kg

Similarly, Fiesta, Polo, Clio, etc are all around the 70-80bhp area.

are you serious? Shocked

The specifications I listed are factually accurate.

Strange, I thought towing capacity was based on weight not power.
This 206 IS going on a trackday despite it's every effort to stay at home in the garage!

Yes.....I need an auto, I want a small (economical...well reasonably economical) car, but I also want a bit of power for overtaking etc and want to occasionally tow reasonably large trailers. It could easily be achieved if I bought and ran 2 cars but that would work out more expensive. To get it all in the one car, is difficult due to competing requirements. The 206 comes closest though.

I know.....I read the comments about them before I bought it. I also compared the number of threads with auto box problems, to the number of threads with manual box problems (taking into account the number of manual cars, vs auto cars) and reached different conclusions to some of the people on here. And....I've had no problems with the car so far. It might blow up tomorrow, but even if it did, I've had my money's worth out of it.

I think very recently because when I bought it 3 weeks ago it wasn't that bad like today.

i mean when did it happen; start from cold? town driving? climbing up hill? long motorway drive?

and by any chances you drive through any puddle? the breather pipe for the old 206 are very low and it is very easy to suck up water
All occasions and all time, but once I get into the fourth gear, everything is fine, but when I am climping a hill it doesn't shift down and so as you understand it gets very very very powerless.

But talking about powerless driving, this is just happen even in 60 km.h when the car consumes all the gears and in no time you are stuck in the 4th gear, at that moment I understand fully that the car shifted throw all the gears in no time (regardless of the speed I am driving in).

Now downshifting is the "pain" I do feel all the time, and sure you know what I am talking about. It shifts all as if I am braking 3,2,1 even in 45 km.h I get into the first gear.

about breather pipe do you mean the one going to the air filter box?

Haroundb have you driven other autos? The Pug 206 is relatively unusual in that it downshifts during braking, most autos don't (they leave it in top gear and coast to a stop, ie the drive becomes disconnected from the engine as the revs drop to around idle speed). I guess if these downshifts are harsh, its a problem. Might just be what you're used to / not used to though?

OK here is an update....::
It turned out that the gearbox was running a very bad oil condition plus it was not full. About 1.5 liter's were were missing thought we didnt find any leaks. Now the car runs far better than before but still there is something still not fine. Will go tomorrow God willing will go for ECU reaet.

Done, I did check the ECU for Errors and that what I got :

Gearbox ECU Code : P0082

Engine ECU Code (1) : P1110 Air conditioner Request Signal improbable
Engine ECU Code (2) : P1327 Synchronization of camshaft (bank 1) to crankshaft signal improbable.

Any help is appreciated, and still I get the harsh shift of the gear.

Thanks
