Got a noise that I don't recognise Its coming from the rear nearside of the car.
When I go over a speed hump or down a small bump it makes kind of a metal on metal noise for a split second. Problem is it doesn't do it all the time.
If I go over a larger bump or speed hump nothing happens and it only happens about 1 in 10. If I rock the car I hear nothing either. Any ideas what it could be so I can take a closer look Cheers

Spare wheel cage may be loose you could also check the exhaust and the rear shocks see if one of thems come loose worse case scenario the rear axle is shagged.

I'll take a look at this as the spare wheel was just in the boot when I bought the car, not even sure if there is a cage on my GTi But this is a good possibility thx

This happened with my old pug. Turned out that it was the spare wheel cage. I didnt have a spare wheel in it, so it was light and kept bumping when I went over bumps. Really done my tits in as it kept falling open and dragging on the road lol
