Hi,
I bought a 206 GTi track car a few weeks ago that I am prepping for circuit racing.

www.ebay.co.uk/itm/190...1423.l2649

As I'm in the RAF, I'll be racing it in the RAF Race Challenge. I last raced in this series in 2008 and 2009, in a Reliant Scimitar SS1 Turbo. I had a lot of ups (Birkett winners 2008) and downs (5 DNSs in 2009!) with that car and stripped it for a major rebuild at the end of 2009. I had a kid in 2010 and the car was looking likely to never get finished, so I thought that if I ever want to go racing again, I need to buy something that's ready to race or has 90% of the work done to it already. Long story short, I plumped for this 206 and got to test it yesterday at Curborough Sprint Track, nr Lichfield.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=1qX7og3HPdo

Fastest double lapper was 68.4, which is comparable to the SS1, although a completely different type of drive.

Short video of my wife showing everyone how to launch a scrabbly wagon:

Overall I'm very happy with the car and can't wait to drive it again Twisted Evil
It still needs the electrical cut-off/extinguisher/transponder doing and some welding on the cage, as it's not up to scrutineering standard in places. First race should be Rockingham on the 19th/20th May.
Cheers,
Raz Very Happy

Looks nice, doesn't look particularly quick though for a 2.0 with ITBS but it could be the camera!

As if you went Curborough I have been phoning and emailing them for the last couple of weeks but no one has ever answered or replied to me.

Looks good, very good price considering the amount that has been spent on it

I still haven't found the time and money to do the last few bits to make it race legal, so the first race meeting will probably be Pemrey in June.
More pics, this time from last weekends RAF Speed Challenge. #12 is me driving, #112 is my wife Smile

Do you expect just a pair of bodies to turn it into a missile?

For those that are interested, work is progressing on the Pug and I'm hoping/praying that it'll be ready to race at Mallory Park on the 30th September, last race of the season for the RAF. It's 99% ready now...
A few pics of the progress:

Still to do:
Welding on rollcage feet
Repaint rollcage
Fit longer wheel studs
Fit air filter to throttle-bodies (might not do that before Mallory)
Fit false floor (I have a sheet of chequer plate ready to go in)
Fit eye bolts for crotch straps
Fit 2L oil catch tank

I've done those already, it's a 6 point harness so I need to add two more under the seat for the crotch strap.

Looking good, im at Mallory park at the end of the month.

Spike , its easy just drill a hole behind the seat as low as possible through the tunnel and bolt the eye to the plate on the other side there should be plenty of room between the heat shield an tunnel for the plate

Anyone who knows me knows how much I love wiring... Confused
There were a lot of redundant connectors all over the car, so I started chasing them back to the fusebox, to find even more redundant connectors under the dash! Due to the Emerald ECU, Digi-dash and lack of fan/aircon/stereo etc, there are connectors hanging EVERYWHERE.
