I have a small chip, I'd say around 1cm by 5mm on my rear bumper/diffuser at the bottom where the paintwork has been completely scratched, it now looks like white chalk. But even though it is small it upsets the whole panel because the paint has come clean off, are there any cheap ways of rectifying this? I don't want to respray the whole car until the bodywork as a whole is a mess and I don't want any cheap temporary pen rubbish. Then again I don't want to spend like £40 or something on a tiny chip.

if you can see it then you can get a scratch repair person to come out and do it for you. if you cant see it then there is no rush as the bumper is plastic and wont rust

See I thought about googling scratch repair but its like quite pricey for just such a small area.
Incidentally how do they actually repair a scratch? Just paint over it with a matching paint basically, perhaps? Are they permanent repairs? Anyone recommend a place that does it without charging scores of pounds?

I see Chipsaway quite often on our road doing repairs. No idea how much it costs, but I'm guessing the quality must be good as the best advertising is word of mouth. If one person had a bad job done, I think word would soon spread.
It would be worth getting an estimate, but if you want a job on the cheap, get a touch up pen, carefully colour the chip, then touch a number of coats lacquer over the top with a brush to bring the paint level up to the original. Flat off with wet'n'dry and polish up. Unless you know where to look, the repair will be almost invisible.

Called chipsaway my local specialist, the guy sounded sound as a pound he was real nice but said I am looking at at least £60 even for a tiny 1cm scratch and he agreed doing it myself with a pen etc would probably be the best way.
Where could I get a blue pen and lacquer from, I don't even know what lacquer is lol! Tried Tesco, not sure if Halfords would...
Macca do I just pen it over then put the lacquer over it and keep putting lacquer over it until it 'blends in'?

lacquer is just a clear coat to protect the colour underneath. Why not try the peugeot parts department? and yes halfords do the paint but they may have to make it for you

What colour blue is your car? Halfrauds do some touch up kits with lacquer included but not in every colour.
Local dealer will have some in but never bought paint from them so don't know how much it is for the touch up kit.
I got my touch up pot mixed at local paint suppliers in Farnworth. Cost about £5 and I just use a spray can of clear lacquer. Spray a bit in the lid and use a clean paint brush (kids colouring book type) to touch over the colour.

Firstly, is the colour of my car Aegean blue?
Have found a paint colour for an exact match of "Peugeot Aegean Blue" on Halfords website, see:

is this the Aegean Blue colour? There are seven other Peugeot colours on the Halfords website.
Sounds silly but I do only have to apply this paint on the white (chipped) bit don't I, obviously not over the surrounding area where the paint is fine?

Check inside your drivers door for the label It should look like this
and the paintcode KMF on it.
You only need a touch up stick. I've never trusted Halfords colours as they seem too generic and the aerosol is a lot thinner than the touch up so you will need more coats to get coverage.
986386 £7.96 for touch up pen and touch up lacquer stick in Aegean Blue from Peugeot. Worth a visit to the dealer for that price

I've used the above touch up kit on my car for a couple of stonechips, once ive built it up a bit more, wet sanded it and polished it out it looks as though it will be a good colour match. Make sure you give it a good shake before hand ( goes without saying really ) to get the colour nice and mixed up
