2.0 GTi already in the 206 is the successor of the XU10 anyway, so it's a bit of a redundant exercise

not to mention those XU9 and XU10 are stone age engine and it will be more and more difficult to find parts to rebuild them.

Even the successor engine EW series was already discontinuous in Europe and replaced by EP series Laughing

ermm why not. less electrics. old school over run. pops bang, ruff and ready tuned to smash an 180 in an embarrassing manner, but then £700 worth of handling and braking improvements are needed especially on a 206. then there it the issue of gearbox being smashed be the drive shafts
i think my cbr will stay for filling my speed needs

Still has an ECU like any 206 engine. Why would it pop and bang? Doesnt offer any more power than a 180 engine, little more than a 138 engine and less torque.
Why would the gearbox or driveshafts be a problem?

2001 GTi 138, Bilstein Sprint dampers, H&R springs, 21mm Peugeot Sport torsion bars, 22mm rear ARB, Peugeot Sport Group A wishbones, 283mm discs, Goodridge stainless hoses, Maniflow 304 grade 4-2-1 2.5" manifold and system, 200 cell cat, Richard Longman head, 45mm Jenvey throttle bodies, 9.5mm TB spacers, 90mm air horns, Jenvey throttle linkage, Jenvey fuel rail, Aeromotive and Goodridge fuel fittings and braided hose, ITG sausage filter, Radtec custom radiator, Piper Ultimate Road cams, Piper vernier pulleys, Omex 600 ECU. Saxo electric PAS pump, Vibra Technics engine mounts. Samco coolant hoses, TTV steel flywheel, 4.76 final drive ratio, 307 CC 180 ratios. 2019 BMW 530i. 2017 Mercedes C300 convertible.

What you've just said to me:

'I know we've moved onto safer cars with better road holding than ever before, but back in the day square wheels was where it was at'

Utterly pointless, just TB or force induct a 138
