Basically the fan isnt kicking in at all on my 206. Its the 54 plate 1.6 16v. it needs sorting prwtty soon so before i splash out on getting an autoelectrician i wondered if anyone could give me some/help or advice. both relay have been tested and one has been replaced due to water making it faulty but its still not kicking in. But when the relay is bypassed the fan comes on straight away. help please? Thanks

No because at the moment im not having to travel in any built up areas i.e stop/start traffic but even when im waiting at road works you can see it start to rise slightly to near the 90 degree mark so it needs sorting pretty quick really. any advice? thanks

90 deg C is the correct operating temp for the engine & thats to LOW for the cooling fan to cut in anyway.
Sounds like you may need a new thermostat / coolant temp sensor as it should be running bang on 90 deg C during normal driving.

Thermostat on a 206 petrol should open around 89 deg C, if its stuck open then the car will take ages to get to the correct running temp if it ever gets there.
Thermostat is cheap / easy to replace & normally cheapest from a Peugeot / Citroen main dealer.
Turn the aircon ON & the cooling fan low speed should cut in & out.
I ended up replacing coolant temp sensor then that showed up the thermostat was faulty to

Ive tried that with the aircon and nothing happens still. air con is working fine though and when the car is being drove normally the temp is showing in the middle of 70 and 90. Hmm?

Are you sure the aircon is working? can you hear the aircon compressor clutch cutting in & out?
Low speed fan shouldnt start till 95 / 96 deg C OR the low speed fan will cycle on & off when the aircon system is in operation.
I'd also look at the low speed resistor for the cooling fan.

Ok wheres the resistor? and well its blowing both hot.and cold air to the temperature i set so i pressume so? thanks

sorry to hijack the thread slightly but my 1.4 glx 1999 8v engine normally functions between 80 and 90C. It is about 85C most of the time but you guys have said it should be bang on 90C.
Do i need to do anything? there dosent seem to be any problems with general operation

i have a 1.1L style, my car is over heating at just above 90C or sometimes just on 90C my fan attempts to kick in but used to make a very loud squeeking noise and now it makes a propeller noise and shakes the car!!!

90 degrees = Normal
98 degrees = Normal
96 degrees = Slow speed fan kicks-in
Temp gauge on the dash = Totaly inaccurate anyway on most non-mux 206.
Even multiplexed 206 have some reading error and they take data from the same thermistor
as the ECU does, unlike non-multiplexed that have dual-ellement sensor.
