i would like to know if anyone else has had distorted text on there multi funtion dispaly.
half of the letters appear missing or broken, its illuminated just fine so i dont think its the bulbs. if its a matter of replacing the unit i would like to know as i would hate to waste money on something so simple to fix. my particular unit is quite hard to find as its not the basic one it has a curved frame compared to the rectangular shaped one. i havent actually found a replacement for it yet.
psa-peugeot.info/206/i...ify.html.. mine is nr4 on this page
any ideas welcome

NR4 isn't curved, that the cover. NR4 is a pretty standard PPT30 I think. It's likely the led tracking has broken .. cam happen if it's pressed too hard when cleaning.

The other problem might be broken connections inside. There are some "pins" on one half of the circuit boards that fit into "sockets" on the other ... the solder dries and the sockets come off meaning the connection fails. If you are handy with a soldering iron, they can be repaired.
Even if you pick up a new one (2nd hand probably, really expensive from dealers) they might be suffering with this problem ... I know, I bought one which failed soon after putting it in the car and I had to repair it.

There was a thread on it ages ago, iirc the general consensus was if the letters were broken up then it's pretty much broken

If the letters are broken I'm pretty sure it's the ribbon that's had it. Creases or splits will do it. Also it could be unsticking from the board. I can't remember what the display looks like on the inside but see if you can wedge a bit of card so it pushes the ribbon onto the board. My mileage display started displaying broken numbers and when I wedged the card in it sorted it. Worth a go and it's free.
If I remember right the pins only illuminate the backlights.
