Looking good mate... but if this was my car I'd honestly colour code the whole car. So, bumper cowlings, door strips, roof gutter strips, rear wiper are and anything else that is plastic on the exterior.

Yeah I was thinking of colour coding everything, but decided not to.
If the car was a different colour I would have probably done it because the plastics would have really stood out, but because the car is black, the plastics don't look too bad as long as I keep them clean Smile

Quote::
why dont you just upgrade them now rather than later if you have to replace one anyway Smile

Did you mean the headlights or the seats?

Well, to be honest, I was thinking about upgrading both Laughing

At the moment though, I haven't got the money to do anything like upgrade the headlights or seats, I just need to get it through the MOT as soon as possible.

Once I've saved some money I'll be starting off by giving it a good service, then getting some alloys (Nimrods or Siroccos) and then some other bits and pieces, maybe new headlights and sport bumpers.

Peace!

Update!

I've been to do work on the car over the past couple of weeks, so this will be like 3 updates in one!

While I was waiting to get the headlight delivered, I decided to clean up the engine bay because it was looking quite tired:

Before:

After:

Then the headlight got delivered, so the headlights were fitted and the grille was also fitted:

Once we had fitted everything back together, it was ready for the MOT, so we sent it to the garage.

The result was...

It failed on:

Both wishbones
Number plate lights (forgot to check them myself)
Windscreen wiper blades
Nearside rear brake 'showing little or no effort'

So...

Out with the old:

And in with the new:

We then went on to diagnose the problem with the rear brake. It turned out it was the cylinder that had stopped working.

Out with the old:

In with the new:

By the time we had finished, the garage was closed so we couldn't put it through the retest, so I decided to do something a bit random.

I decided to start colour coding the interior. The glove box handle and door pull handles were already black:

But the air vents and door opener handles were grey:

So I decided to spray them black to match the other handles. The finish didn't come out that good, but I'm not really bothered to be fair, it was only a quick 5 minute job.

So now the handles all match:

I'm planning on doing the centre console soon to match the rest of the black in the interior.

The car is starting to look a bit better now:

I've also recently ordered some 20mm spacers for the back wheels because they sit so far in the arches it looks ridiculous:

I think once the spacers are on it'll look a lot better.

I've been back at home for a couple of days, so my dad has had to send it in for the MOT re-test, so I'm just waiting to hear whether it has passed or not. Fingers crossed!

Thanks for looking guys.

Peace!

It's passed the MOT!

Got the car insured and taxed so it's finally on the road.

After driving it for a couple of days, I've noticed the fuelling is slightly dodgy and the tracking is also slightly out still. Other than that, It's fine.

Still waiting for my spacers to arrive, then I'm looking at getting a new interior and then I'll be saving up for a set of Nimrods.

I'll be back with an update soon.

Peace!

Quick Update -

So, both of the front seats were broken. The passenger side wouldn't fold to let people in the back, and the runners on the drivers side weren't locking properly, so the seat would slide backwards and forwards while I was driving. Not easy to drive like this!

So, after a quick search on eBay, my girlfriend stumbled across a full GTI interior. Paid £70 for the lot, which didn't seem bad, considering some guys were charging £60 for just a standard single seat.

This is the original interior:

This is the interior I bought:

I was off work today so I spent the day fitting it into the car. It was actually quite easy, the hardest part turned out to be fitting the rear door cards because you have to unbolt all of the seatbelts in order to thread them through the holes in the door cards and rear boot trim. Other than that it was fairly straight forward.

I also sprayed the dial surround above the steering wheel to match the darker plastics on the new doorcards. Eventually I want to match the whole dashboard to the darker grey colour.

How the interior looks now:

Next on the list should be the spacers for the back wheels. They still haven't been delivered yet but I'm getting on the case to see where they are.

I also decided to take a picture to take part in the September Shot of the Month:

I'll update again soon.

Thanks for looking!

Peace!

Update

My spacers finally arrived in the post, so got them fitted today and the car looks a lot better now.

Before:

After:

I think the car looks a lot better now with the spacers on.

Next thing to get sorted is a fuelling issue with the engine, then hopefully I'll start to do a bit more modifying.

I'll keep updating soon.

Peace!

Not really an update, just thought I'd post a few pictures of the car now that it's on the road and sort-of finished.

I've still got quite a few plans for the car because It still looks a bit too standard, but I'm happy with how it looks for a while.

Wish list:

New Numberplates (original ones are starting to look a bit tired - check out the last pic)
Ph2 boot strip
Nimrods (If I can find some I can afford - I like the steelies but they look a little bit too ratty)
Maybe colour coding
Maybe sport bumpers

Pics for now:

I'll keep updating if anything changes!

Peace!

I haven't updated in a long time, mainly because I haven't done anything to the car.

So, I'm updating because I've finally got round to getting a set of Nimrods and a Phase 2 Boot Strip.

I got the Nimrods after placing a 'wanted' thread on here (thanks to Gaffa), but some of the wheels were in need of a good refurb.

I had loads of ideas about what colour to spray the wheels, but after lots of thinking, I decided to do something completely different and keep them silver.

This is a picture of the worst wheel before I refurbed them - you can see where the paint has flaked from the corrosion. The other wheels were not as bad.

The wheels look a lot better now. Quick picture while they were drying under a heat lamp:

I forgot to get proper picture when it wasn't under the lamp!

I got the bootstrip from a local breakers. When I got it, it was the right colour, but had a few scratches. I forgot to get a picture of how it looked before, but I did get a picture during the prep, and after it was painted:

Painted:

Fitted:

Next thing on my shopping list is a new set of number plates because mine are looking a bit tatty. Other than that, I think the car is mostly finished now.

I'll give it a good clean (as soon as we get some better weather) and then take some proper photos and post them on here.

Thanks for looking!

Peace!

Looks good.

Im rocking the steelies at the mo, but the fact im doing a "206 Rallye D" kinda fits wit the ethos of it all.

I have Partner Steels on, where the centre sits in a bit more than the standard 206 ones.

Yeah I would have liked to do a full 'Rallye' style thing, but I decided to just go with the Clean/Smooth look instead.

In the future I might spray the wheels black, but for now I like how it looks with them silver. Looks nice and clean.

Cheers for the comments!

OK, It's time for some proper pictures of the car now that it's finished.

Last update I mentioned that I'd refurbed the wheels. Here's a proper photo:

Don't really need photos of the other wheels, they all look the same Smile

Pictures of the car:

I'm not planning on making any other major changes to the car, so I probably won't be updating any time soon. I'll probably post photo's in the 'Photoshoot' section every now and again Smile

Thanks for looking!

Peace!
