I am putting in a sony head unit into my 51 plate 206. However, even with the key out of the ignition the radio is still live. Has anybody got a wiring diagram of the radio plug
Cheers
Dan

I have tried every combination, the radio is getting a constant live whether the key is in the ignition or not. This to me sounds like there is a short somewhere. I am going to spend a good couple of hours on it and try suss the fault. Will report back tomorrow

If your car is multiplexed it might take a while for the BSi to shut down things like the stereo.
Try again both combinations but leave it a while every time to see if it actually stays on.

To all of the above... YOU'RE WRONG!

The current setup is drawing the power from the BSI, yes.

However, in order to have the stereo only start up or shut down with the ignition you need to switch the lives around. I can't remember which off the top of my head. If I remember to look when I'm home I'll post it up.

(I did post a how to many years ago but that before info went down & we all had to re-register... unfortunately all content was lost).

Update. It is turning off eventually if I lock the door. But when I unlock and open the door it fires up straight away. My worry is the owner of the car is going to be a women driver, this will all go over her head and I will be forever going out with the jumpleads. without putting in a new live and switched live is there any way to over come this problem

My 206 is the same, swapped the yellow and red around to keep the memory but it will turn off eventually... I just lock the car and turns off after about 2mins.

PROBLEM SOLVED!!! If you look at the cars wiring there is a yellow wire (its either pin 3,4 I am not sure with) That one is a switched live from the ignition. By swapping around the pins on the new radios multiplug I now have it behaving as it should.

Good man. A wiring diagram and a little bit of patience does wonders on this job.

... If only I had a quid for every time someone posts up, "switch the yellow and red wires over"...

The BSI boots up when you unlock your car and remains live for up to 2-3 minutes after you've taken your key out and shut the door. (If you get out the car but don't lock it, then when you open the door again this will wake the BSI up).

If you don't change the wires & pins in the ISO block the stereo will always power up with the BSI...

Just to add, the constant live is pin 1 or 2 and the switched is pin 3 or 4 (depending on how you read the multiplug) best way to diagnose it is £5 test lamp cant go wrong, earth it off the door. Mind I have fitted hundreds of aftermarket radios this is the first time I have ever had to change the multiplug pins around
