Hello,

I have a Peugeot 206 (2002). She registered, a few months ago, that a fuel injector needed replacing (the engine diagnostics warning light came on and there was a loss of power), I had it replaced and all was fine. Then a month later the same thing happened again so I had another one replaced. The car was fine for about a week and then another injector went. A third one was replaced and within 24 hours the same thing happened again. A mechanic suggested that it could be an electrical fault that is causing this to happen when there is actually nothing wrong with the fuel injectors but hasn't managed to find the cause of it yet.

Any ideas what could be causing this?
Many thanks!!

Caroline

Have you had the ECU tested to make sure it's not the ECU at fault (had a few cars with similar problems as you showing faults with ignition/ coil pack/ injectors etc and turned out to a permanent ECU fault.......)

Hey Caroline,

I have the same peugeot age n engine which had the EXACT same problems as you this past week... I had 1 injector changed at a garage (£130), and still engine light beeping with power jerking back and forth / misfiring etc. So took it to Peugeot main dealer, who said it was the rubber seals on the injectors (£120 w/ diagnostic), 4 miles away SAME problem but worst! It couldnt even idle without stuttering.
Stormed back to Peugeot demanding they sort it out with no extra cost as they made it worst. Anyway, they tested each injector separately, and concluded it was injector 1, noting that my local garage had replaced injector 4!! The idiots didnt know that Peugeots only make to number them backwards, so I'd paid them to throw away a working injector and now paying for a new one!
Peugeot also changed the coil pack as injectors constant misfiring had damaged it. Got Peugeot to give me 10% off parts and free labour, but overal still £300 out of pocket with them, PLUS £130 with local idiot garage. Going there tomorrow demanding they give me at least a free service for changing the wrong injector.

Overall, I'd say stick with the same garage as you should not be paying again and again for the same problem! Demand they fix it for the original quote. Although if you haven't already, my advice is TAKE IT TO PEUGEOT as you can haggle with them saying you're now no longer thinking of buying that Peugeot 208 thats in the window (...bulls**t flies if you sell it well).

Good luck and let us know how you get on...
