Hi All, my first post so please bear with me.
I have a 206 14hdi sw, it had a blowing injector so i had my local garage (not peugeot) sort it out. they took all four injectors out and re-seated them with new washers and while it was in i had them change the timing belt. my problem is now it has no go in it. when i told them they said the timing belt was out by three teeth and that they marked it and replaced it as it was (three teeth out) as they were concerned that to move it by that amount may well damage the motor. the car ticks over sweet but come to an incline and it just slows right down in fact i was on the m25 foot flat down in 5th and 55mph was all i could manage. what do you guys think any advice would be much appreciated.

if they know timing is out why don't they correct it?

Hi Seabook, the mechanic said he marked the position with tip-ex so he knew it had not changed when it came to re-fitting the new belt but he said that maybe someone else may have put the cog on wrong (i bought the car second hand)so don't know it's maniacal past.
but as i said in my first post to move it three teeth is a lot and i think they are saying if it was running okay before it should be no different now as the new belt/cogs are in exactly the same place as it was before.

that doesn't explain why the mechanic knows the belt has jumped 3 tooth in the past.
timing will affect engine power for sure.
any warning lights on? can you rev the car above 2K rpm?

yes the car will rev up to the red standing still but it seems dead when you first put your foot down ie at tick-over i can push the pedal down to the floor and let it straight back up and it hardly registers with revs -- I'm no mechanic but isn't there a mark on the pulley or something so they line up??

it looks to me your throttle position sensor is off the track.
and no, there isn't any mark, that's why you need to use tool to lock the pulley when doing the belt or you will have to start from the beginning to time the engine.

I'd go back and re-time it properly. Forget any tippex marks ... that's not how it should be done.
As it's a 1.4 hdi you can do that with a bolt to hold the crank (hole in engine back plate into hole in flywheel) while you remove the crank pulley, then two drill bits to time crank and cam pulley.

Hi Gazza, if it's 3 teeth out as he says if he puts it back to what it should be will that not make the lump go bang! as he said he put the bolt in and drill bits that's how he knew it was 3 teeth out.

It shouldn't or my car would have done when I changed the timing belt.

But did he retime it or did he leave it? ... if latter then the timing is out so that it will never run properly.

most likely he just leave it.
no-one would rely on the mark to time the camshaft and the injector pump. this is just crazy

Tipex, the legend. Pin it, and go for it again (side note the high pressure pump technically doesnt need to be timed)
3 Teeth out is game over, just one will cause this all
£5 quid says he didnt fit all three seals per injector? And clean up the old carbon

alright. is that because on the HDi engine the injection timing is control by ECU?
because i remember on the XUD engine you can manually alter the injection timing

Correct, the injection sequence is controlled by pressure and soleniods, rather than pressure from the pump
A modern HP justs pumps, the older style is key as each injector is controlled by the pump
