Exactly mate plenty of corsa v6s around they must be much much worse to handle

Well with the 2L your putting far less stress on the engine to get the same power, would rather have that to be honest

I came back to have a look, going to have another project next weekend I need some new seats and getting them in but the horizontal rails have already been welded in doubt I will be able to get the cobras in probably need some with side mounts

The side mount look sweet Harry for a full on track car that's what I'd have you using the same seats?

To get a 106 engine up to this power you would need to spend easily 6-7k.
I don't think it would be to heavy either harry as the old clios had a 2.0 engine, loads of v6 conversions are poping up now and no matter what people say is a heavy engine I've seen one on a engine crane lol.
Sure a tuned 1.6 would be more revvy/quicker off the Mark than 2.0 but there's no replacement for displacement Wink I've got everything done now anyways so just transplanting it over would be cheaper option i think.

it is very hard for TU5JP4 to hit 200 mark.

the closest 1 i have seen it around 197@9000rpm Laughing

and that is with extensive head work and bottom work with newman pH5 cam. would be a pig on normal road, got absolutely no torque until 5K

I know some one with 199 bhp in a 106 gti n/a and it eats drive shafts but it's so quick and revvy but I'll sick with my 2.0

Spike, do you have any pictures of your bonnet catches? I'm still keeping some of my original slam panel Even if just to support the back edge of the grill) but I'm not convinced by the time I've finished hacking it to pieces that there will be enough strength to hold the bonnet! It still blockes way too much airflow to the filter.

I might consider the aerocatches which are about £50. Or the older traditional bonnet pins are cheaper but don't look safe for anybody that wants to get run over. I'm not 100% on how legal they are.

Hay Paul erm not realy sure what pics you want? Pics of my catches fitted to the bonnet or were the old one used to be sit? I didn't pay that much mine were a bargain at £40 (lockable) as I knew someone who was selling some, I'm just using the plastic upper grill to channel air flow direct into the filter and to block weather conditions day 2 day use. If I take the cable ties off it's 100% air flow. so if your not keeping any of the slam panel you'll need to make up a strut to replace it to support the top or the rad I'm v.happy how pug1off did mine looks neat and professional
If you look on your project you'll see the 2 pics I put up comparing before and after with the rad cowling.

Aero catchs are flat and you rarely forget to leave them off

Standard pins sit proud and you can leave them not attached as my brother found out twice Laughing

What addaz said above but 1 thing to add to what he said you don't remove any part of the catch it's an all in one unit John + they look mint and BTCC cars use them so you can trust the quality, you can get the non lockable ones for cheaper than the ones that I got but I wanted a little security. With these you have to unlock, press the release button the flick the leaver up if you look on Utube you can see what they do mate.
