Really hoping you guys can help me, pulling my hair out with this problem and have already thrown £100+ at it.

I am having issues with my Revs, when I rev the engine on my 206 (TU3JP engine) the revs increase, they decrease quickly as they should but then stick at 2000 for a few seconds before dropping slowly back to idle. This also makes it a pain when changing gear as revs do not drop like they should and so you cannot rev match easily. I have also had poor fuel economy lately too, but i don't know if this is connected, and bucking of the vehicle.

My brother had a similar issue with the bucking and it was the coil pack, I have changed this on my vehicle hoping to cure the revs also, so far its been on a week and no bucking so far but it wasnt doing it all the time so it might just be in hiding. I have also replaced the IAC Valve and stripped and cleaned the throttle body, both to no avail.

Could this be an issue with the TPS, my cables are all freely moving so it cant be those.

Any help appreciated, as have had this issue about a month now, and it is becoming dangerous.

'Had exactly the same thing on my TU3JP,
Doubt it will be the TPS although it does make sense and that was my first attempt too.

Check your EVAP canister valve and lines to make sure it's not sucking-in air from there.

Check generaly all seals/gaskets and throttle area again for vacum leak (sucking in air).
Engine-side Injector seals too.

Last and most painfully, valve-tappets might well be in desperate need of adjustment if the engine
is not 'raspy', and lacks torque too.

Where can I find my EVAP Canister Valve? It doesn't seem to be lacking torque, though there is a terrible shudder when you try to pull away.

Are the tappets a big job?

Canister valve and tube is on the RHS under the coolant expansion tank.

Valves quite a big job requiring skill/experience and repetative adjustment till they settle-down.

Or it could be something completely un-related..

I have had the exact same problem on my 206 for years now (TU3JP). The revs drop normally untill they hit 2000rpm and then they sit there for a few seconds and drop to idle slower than they should. I have taken it to multiple garages including Peugeot who told me that the car was designed to operate this way?!?! (the master mechanic was an idiot).

I have made multiple threads on here about the issue and there does not seem to be a standard cure for the fault. If you do manage to find a fix please let me know! I have long since given up and now adapt my driving style to suit the revs. (not ideal but it works).

I've had the problem for about 3 months now. I had major clutch slip for some unknown reason on the one day and since then the car hasnt run the same. I've been wondering if it could be a clutch related problem?

MrrNoName, I too have taken the car to Peugeot, although I got a different response, whereby the mechanic said it could be due to a deformed throttle body as it is made of plastic? The other problem I have is that for some reason, the parts for my model seem to be rather hard to find, alot of the major places such as UniPart and EuroCarParts all show different parts for my car!

A new symptom I have started to get is the car stalling, again for no reason.

Any ideas, please let me know as the car really is hard to drive when you cant match revs when changing gear!

Wonder if someone has fiddled with the throttle cable adjustment & set it up wrong?

Seens this no end of times on Peugeot / Citroen over the years, people just cant help having a fiddle thinking they know better then the manufacturer.

Yes I wondered too about cable at first, but alas... inlet valves. Rolling Eyes
Otherwise idle-revs would be all over the place as well.

Hi Guys, problem still remains at present however I have not yet checked the inlet valves. Would this cause my revs to drop slowly and stick at 2k? I have eliminated the , I had replaced the coil pack with an arc pack which threw an error code, after putting the old one back on the problem seems to have gone with regards to the stalling. All what remains now is the revs sticking at 2k before dropping slowly.
Any help is greatly appreciated guys.
