Well i can hear it loudest through the the wheel arch of the drivers side
One of the pulleys?
Bear in mind i am a novice to mechanics, as long as its not going to be a major issue as in engine is knackered i am happy

My money is the crank pulley. Well known to go. Get them off ebay or froma motor factors for around 40...depends on which one you got. Pug OEM will be more.
If its louder in the wheel arch id put money on it. If you blip the throttle it should speed up with the engine rpm.
You must get it sorted. It will shred your PV belt and youll loose power steering and at speed if it goes could , and only could cut into the cam belt housing and damage the belt in there. As your doing it Id change the PV Belt as well so you know its done.
Its an easy enough job really, but ive got the kit to do it so I would say that. THe worst bit is getting the crank bolt off, an air gun or impact wrench will wizz it off but a spanner or ratchet wont do it ....well no t easily. Youll be there all day spinning the engine over. THere are ways round that but its painfull.
To check it is that, open bonnet, start engine and look over the side of the car down the side of the engine where the pulley is ...It will probably be wobbling away.
Hope this helps.

Well took the car to the garage and they took off the belt and noise went (wipes sweat from brow) so not the engine.
Found that the Power steering pump had a lot of lateral movement, placed the best back and noise back.
So ordered a pump £40 delivered from ebay expecting to be fitted next Wednesday so fingers crossed that will fix it.
Also need new Springs and pads / discs so just getting the garage to do the lot while it’s there so they can do this when I am in my bed on nights ready for next Thursday.
Will let you know if it fixes the problem.
Regards
Tim

Also so if the replacement pump does not fix the issue what else could be the issue as there is no knocking when the best is taken off
