Just had my spare wheel cage fall down going over a speed bump, got a hell of a fright with the noise. The bolt with the clip came right off! I put it all back on and tightened it up and it seems ok now. Anything else I should do or watch out for? I dont want this happening again.

The bolt has been known to unscrew itself from the clip.

Try adding some cable ties to the wheel carrier then to the metal bumper brackets or similar.

Seen a 405 spare wheel cage come undone by itself back in 1989 Laughing

I've never had one come undone on anything PSA ive owned / driven over the last 15 years Cool

As for the bolt unscrewing itself, I bet 80% of the 206's on here with a spare cage the bolt is actually rusted up making the spare wheel useless Laughing

I put copper grease on mine to avoid it seizing...it also helped it gradually unscrew itself. It never got far because I checked it regularly. Before long the wheel lived in the boot - keeps it in much better condition.

Yeah mine is pretty greasy. I did think the cage was a bit low as I could see the wheel from behind I just didnt get round to tightening it. I may stick some cable ties on too just to make sure.

Cheers guys

Or just chuck the wheel in the boot where it stays in better condition (tie it down though so it's secure) and bin the cradle.
