Hi,
New to forums and looking to buy my first 206.
I have seen many many cars. After checking mileage, past MOT's etc.. All the good ones seem to have Mileage discrepancies etc.
I was wondering if the price was high for this one, or is it worth paying the bit extra..
Here is the spec.
2001 206 HDI D 3dr
Genuine checked mileage (vosa) of 54K
FSH from Dealer
1 previous owner
Immaculate body work, just the odd small stone chip.
AC
Long MOT
No Tax
Colour is Firedance
Perfect interior (Orange and Grey)
Dealer price with 3 month warranty is £1800
Know looking at parkers that is the TOP price.
But this car appears to be Mint, it is coming from a reputable dealer.
Any thought would be GREATLY appreciated.

I know nothing about this but I still think that's enough to say that's overpriced for an 11/12 year old car?
If the car really is immaculate with a main dealer FSH etc then maybe it might be worth that much, but the question is when you compare it to other similar 206's and their prices, is it worth paying 1,800?
Maybe others can help better, but that's my 2p.

i traded my 2001 60k miles for 600 quid! he then resold it for around 1200,
if he is asking 1800 then i wouldnt pay a penny over £1500, But i would expect no issues with it at that price!

Thanks for the replies all..
I am looking else where ATM, but not ruled this on out.
Another I am looking at fails every year on:
Exhaust emits excessive smoke or vapour of any colour (7.4.B.4)
OR
Due to excessive smoke Emissions not tested (7.0)
This appears to be quite common on a few vehicles I have checked.
BUT others have only failed once or twice. Does this point to a deeper issue.. Sensor/cat issues.
Or is it common for them to need a tune-up before a pass???

best to avoid if you know nothing about car
it can be an expensive bill

what littre is that one for 1800?
1800 for a hdi with 54k and 1 owner is a good price imo
i would try get it down to 1650-1700
yes its 11-12 yrs old but if its been looked after should be fine
i paid 1300 for my hdi and it was on 98k with no service history this was a few months ago

Hi,
It's a 2.0 HDI D
Now the dealer says they have known the car and owner for some time (used to work for the main PUG dealer).
The MOT history checks out averaging 4-5K a year.
A fair few advisories which have work carried out along with receipts.
It appears to have been a pottering around town car.
This one also has failures for emissions from '06 to '10 (exhaust leaking advisory for last 2 years).
Most recent advisory are for misting of oil on shocks (One has been replaced) and F/NS+OS brake pipe deterioration.
Pas 2 years no emission failures.
Are the 2.0 HDI's susceptible to failing emissions if they are not used Motorway driving i.e. good clear out

You know what it's like buying a 2nd hand car.
Dealer has offered to put on a ramp and let me look thoroughly.
I think he is pretty legite.

the 2l hdi's are suppose to be bullet proof engines. I'd still try and haggle them down abit though

The 2.0 HDI engine is basically bulletproof & has proven time & again it can do 400K + miles easily IF its looked after!
Crank pulley & engine cover clips are known weak spots ( PSA Peugeot / Citroen have released modified parts )
If its the flexi brake pipes on the MOT advisory then there only about £10 a side from Peugeot for the part, if its the main metal brake pipe from the master cylinder then that would be more expensive to sort!
Price is a little high for the age, if he wont come down on price then get the dealer to replace the brake pipes & have the timing belt replaced instead as part of the deal & stick a brand new mot on ( get confirmation its been done printed on the sales invoice! )

I, have read around a bit. The 2.0 HDI is a solid engine IF looked after.
The only thing that did concern me was the 5 MOT failures for emissions. BUT I assume that if it only does 4K and not much Motorway a year. This maybe expected???
Brake pipes aren't a problem for me to change. 1 shock maybe!!
Deffo going to try and knock the price down.
Thanks for the advice so far. The price did appear to be on the higher side for a dealer.

Make sure it comes with both keys.
Blue plastic security code card with an intact silver scratch panel.
White card with the key number on & the radio security code if its non plexed ( multiplexed 206 dont have / need a radio code )
Locking wheel key if security bolts are fitted & if there Peugeot security bolts get them changed to McGards ASAP.
