Whats your best drive if your honest..Pug,Golf Or Saxo....??? Cool

Tbh she's the best woman driver I've experienced & my mums had some wicked cars - including my old 300 bhp Focus ST but I'd say shes better.

The G/f and I have been together for 7 yrs, so she's seen it all. Me in my younger years driving like a t**t in my first car (Saxo VTR) and shortly after & my 206 Gti 180 @18/19, and my 300 bhp Focus ST ecccct lol.

So she knows what she's doing learned from the best aka me haha. SO I trust her and she don't drive like I did. I've obviously calmed down and my driving style has somewhat matured.

I used to come on here back in the day (04-05') saying I've raced this this and that lol!

As for best drive,

Out of those...

It's hard. Because I love them all for different reasons.

MK2 Golf is old school, raw and timeless.
VTS was just EPIC, mint far better overall condition than my current 206 and quicker
206 Is my second one for a reason loved them from the day I got my old one cheap for spec.

VTS - Overall fun
MK2 GTi - handling, raw , awesome
180 - Great to look at and very capable - let down by cheap parts always failing, still when the little bits are done I'm sure I wont have my love hate relationship anymore.

Best car I've had,

Between my Focus ST @ 300 bhp & my VTS.

Quick vid of the Janspeed - Simota CAIS

It's not a great video as I had to hold the phone while messing around testing pops. (That wasn't a test of acceleration)

www.youtube.com/watch?...ature=plcp

Better vids will come at some point it was a spare of the moment thing.

PS the dust is now gone! lol.

Today I took the car for an estimate to sort out the shoddy workmanship of the last company.

Looks like it's going to be a full side respray for a proper job as the peel is ridiculous. This is including new sidestrips to fix the old one where they cracked it.

Hopefully it all goes ahead!

Update V-Maxx Coilovers bought.

The kit in the picture is the actual kit. I've just PS'd it to this pic along with the V Maxx logo. I don't think the guy with the GT Dale? had them wound down fully in the picture as it doesn't look 70mm to me?

About them...

  • Adjustable height front - lowers by 35 -70mm
  • Zinc plated damper bodies
  • Uprated dampers with sport settings
  • Uprated sports springs
  • TUV approved kit
  • Dual alloy spring seats
  • 2 year manufacturer's warranty

Should be good! certainly better than 9 yr old tired stock suspension that clunks around surely. I can go quite low although I won't be winding them down to 70mm.

It was a choice between JOM & FK originally as I wanted to buy some cheap suspension (£150-200) FK being the preferred because they have some more expensive kits and have been trading alot longer. I was hoping the quality was delivered through the rest of their range aswell although JOM are storming the market with their cheap coilover kits especially in the VAG scene. Anyway these came up and RRP @ £300 ish I obviously got a deal so it had to be done good old ebayl!

I'm unsure when I'll have it sitting on them though. I might leave it ti'll after Christmas as the salt on the road will christen them but we will see lol. Obligatory ASW pictures when they arrive!

Next I'll be buying some vibra technics engine & gearbox mounts.

Good to see your getting the shoddy repair work sorted mate, hopefully your not paying since it wasn't your fault.

glad your lowering it mate but how come you didn't go down the eibach/bilstein set up? I got v-maxx on my ph1 gti and i wish i splashed out on more expensive coilovers as I find the ride really hard even at -45mm

Thanks mate,

As I said above I didn't want to spend s**t loads on the car just wanted to go lower for cheap and replace tired old stock suspension. The 180 stock suspension is dire so I'm sure I can put up with the extra lol.

Looks good... thats actually Ross' old motor and he didn't have them fully wound down due to the MAMs being so wide and with him have a GT so having the narrower wings.

Do you by any chance still have you Simota Induction kit off the 180..? If you do, would you be interested in selling it..? I know you've built your own setup of the standard one so thought I'd might as well ask.

Haha thought it might well have been the case lol... price wise I don't mind I know a brand new one from the states for the 180 is £120 so I'd be willing to pay upto the £80 mark for a complete kit which is near mint/mint condition.

@UZ I think you're best off buying new, you will never get a mint one second hand all the piping will be erroded and shiz if the person hasn't been an ASW like me and kept on top of the polishing lol

For the price I paid they're mint lol

Brand new never fitted £70 posted.

Bar maintaining it, just things like vibra technics mounts, engine, gearbox and mapping really and possibly some 15-16" alloys 17's are too much even if they look the best. Probably buy some crystals, smoked or stock too.

i'd go for 16's tbf mate, think 15's look too small, when i get my 180 i was thinking of td pro race 1.2's but now considering speedline corse turini's

Yeah I wanted Turinis but although they look awesome they're heavier than Pro race 1.2's... and alot more expensive.

I was going to go for Anthracite Turinis or Anthracite Team D's, we will see...

Clio boys run 15's iirc and tbh the 206 doesn't need big rims + that opens up another market to explore as Saxo boys love spending dollar on decent rims and selling them off and with the coilies I can pull the look off by going low lol.

I also like the look of 2118's in white...

Thing is I'll be getting that Mk2 GTI home soon...

I do love my pug even if it did throw up a thousand problems in a very short amount of time *which is why it often seems I go through stages with the car*

i.e

BSI - Still to be updated... ESP fault, Airbag faults, Passenger airbag deactivates, volume turning itself up to max on it's own, when it's really cold go to unlock the car and the horn doesn't stop...
Pas seat fubard like isn't adjustable anymore
& then the usual... engine, gearbox top mounts and needing a new clutch... & obviously the starter motor going up in a puff of smoke.

& Icing on the cake being the lady that took the SP arch off causing scratches and the insurance c**k up...

I always knew these were problematic cars anyway unless the common stuff has been sorted so I don't mind, had one before and it did the same stuff. (bar bsi and seat problem) just a shame I treat it like a bloody queen and don't rag it! (averaging 31mpg town driving) which is nigh on impossible for most lol.

Slowely but surely going through the list! Ordering the mount kit soon either going Grp N for all mounts or Vibra... my car looks great but has irritating faults.

The guys at the garage i take my car too said peugeot's aren't the most reliable of cars but i've had my car since feb 08 and the only issue i had when i bought it was needed a new coilpack, i think the only reason i had serious ecu was when i changed the factory bonnet vent to a sp vent.

I do like the saxo's even if they do get a bad rep, had a vts before the 206 which was cammed and treated to wilwood brakes but I think for the money the 180 is def a car to get even with the problems that may arise

Hmm who knows what caused your problems, I mean I'm runnning SP vents but I can't remember where the ECU is on a 138 been a long time since I saw a pic of one,

What made you go from a VTS to the baby GTI? bet you noticed a huge difference in performance lol!

180 is an upgrade over the Saxo, I do miss my VTS often when things go wrong with the 180! my VTS never had any problems, the 180 seems riddled with them lol!!
