Hello all, I'm new to this forums and I'm hoping someone can help me.

I've got a 03 xsi 206, 1.6 16v ( 110BHP if I remember correctly ) and I think there's something wrong, With a full tank of fuel I only get 260-280 miles, I dont hammer the car at all, I drive normal, pretty much always in 5th, stick to speed limits. My clock on the dashboard says I'm getting 40 to the gallon, but when I work it out I'm getting 25 miles to the gallon which is shocking, I do have a little hole in the exhaust somewhere but I dont think this would be effecting the car that much.

Can anyone else out there with a 206 xsi tell me how much they are getting with a full tank of fuel?

Thanks

At the moment I've done 134 miles and I'm under half way point. Is this a common fault or?

Maybe just needs a good service. I had a 1.1 206 was doing 50 mile a day round trip costing me £20 every 2 days one of the reason I had to sell it.

Was a little better after a service.

I get better than that but not by much. I did a 500 mile round trip recently and it took a tank and a quarter. That was half night time driving aswell. One o the reasons it's going and I'm getting a diesel. I will also point out my car is serviced regular and looked after.

My car is standard, not chipped or any mods. What could cause this and how can i find the fault, I had a service last week and it changed nothing. I'd hate to see what I'd get if I drove like an idiot.

I don't really wanna take it to a garage and they replace parts and me having to spend money when it hasnt solved the issue, hence why id like to find the problem myself.

Could it be that I need to clean the injectors? Should I put some injector cleaner or whatever u call it in my tank?

I'd like to thank everyone that has replied so far.

What maths are you using? Shouldn't be driving round in 5th all the time either!

280 miles ÷ 11 gallon, = 25 to the gallon, my clock on dashboard says I'm doing 40 so I should get 440 miles. And yes I have reset my clocks when I fill my tank to the top.

How have you worked the litre to gallon ratio out? Imperial gallon or US gallon?

11 gallons is 50.05 litres. The tank holds 50 litres. Your calculations could be out.

it little over 50 litres but not even 50.01 so I'd work it out to 11gallons = 50litre

So your mpg = 25.45

Something's wrong somewhere that seems low, but not had a
petrol car in a long time

Don't drive in 5th all the time. You're engine will struggle and fuel consumption will be worse.
