The CC versions of the 206 and 207 hold their value quite well. I'm surprised a 54plate 206 CC is down to that price. But then the plastic add ons have ruined it.

Buy her a good reliable car for her first car. If she wants a convertible, tell her to wait until she has more experience and has built up her no claims.
Chances are that what ever you buy is going to be bumped about a bit over the next few months (ice and snow don't mix well with new drivers), so you might aswell go for a cheap and cheerful run around that is easy to repair.
Spend £1000 now and save the rest to buy her a new car when this one is written off, plus the saving will pay for the insurance.

A TU1 / TU3 powered 206 hatchback with ABS would be a good choice

A roof is always a good thing to have over you before going upside down in a ditch after losing it on ice. Trumpton can always make it into a convertible afterwards though

True. Also the chrome lexus lights will be coming off.
