Hi guys

I got a good one for you my 206gti 180 (track car)

We went to cadwell 2 weeks ago and got heavy break fade so we changed the fluid to dot 5.5 when back out and it’s the same

Its not like normal brake fade the pedal has lots of travel and spongy (not a nice feeling when going in to top corner at 100+)

Now back at home, hit the brakes car puts you through window, but the pedal feels horrible

Any ideas , pads new discs new…………….one thing I changed the hub seamed ok before but that may be a coincidence and a red herring

Thanks

Stu

did you bed in the pad before you go on track?

what pad did you use?

like you said above brake fade =/= spongy pedal; it's more of the feeling like brust brake pipe (floor the pedal and no resistant at all)

did you bleed the system completely when you change the fluid? and how did you do it? you might have air traped in the system.

did you use stock calipers?

and i have been to cadwell a few times and i never get to the point where my brake failed before my car break down Laughing

We got the problem, when was on the track for the first time, we brought the car home and changed the brake pads and discs so the car has run on the track with old brakes and with new brake fluid and been on the road and driven normally having the same problem

Its got standard 180 calipers

You say been to Cadwell so you agree very scary when your go into a corner at hundred mile an hour as you hit the floor with your brake pedal or should I say feels like you going to hit the floor with the brake pedal

Has anybody got any ideas we are at a bit of a loss

Cheers Stu

well you didn't quite answer all of my questions.

i suspect you haven't bleed the system properly. and saying that 206 brakes are always a bit spongy
