Hi all,
I would really appreciate some advise what to do with the car as it's been having some real nasty electrical problems and the dealer wants to rip me off over £500 just to identify the fault, I've just wasted £107 for a diagnostic test today which gave them no insight to what the problem is and all it is a light and alarm issue, so I get nothing in return except for a car wash from them, wish I haven't bothered now..
I can only think the car needs a new BSI but it's hard to say and really don't want to go there if it means it needs a new ECU and re-programming. I've checked the wiring again and again nothing has been changed or been tampered with from what I can see.
1) The alarm is very annoying and goes off when stationary for 5 minutes, even in the ignition and does not go off when I deadlock myself in the car.. it's doing the opposite of what it should? The alarm does not randomly trigger when stationary, for example when I paid for petrol with waiting passenger, I open the door then the alarm goes off. Car wash it goes off..
2) No alarm light on hazard switch. (tested light on permanent live so it's not the light bulb)
3) No door control interior light illumination but courtesy working
4) No rear fog (not the bulb!)
5) Front fog don't come on with main beam, not sure if this is normal..
6) no *beep* with stop flash indication/doors opened
the rear fog, alarm light and door light stopped working at the same time. I can't get it fixed, Dealer doesn't know - they said they have to strip the car. I'm surprised they didn't reset the BSI during the diagnostic. Peugeot Planet proved useless with no related faults, says no faults with the BSI. (really though?)
the next option is selling the car if there is absolutely no way of getting this fixed, car has a lot of changes done to it!!
Thanks for any help with this.... truly a nightmare as you can imagine.

Front fogs are not meant to come on with main beam.
Send the BSI away for test / repair.

Which means no car for some weeks, so I cannot just buy second hand BSI, plug and play?
Heard of rolling motion? £85 to repair seems reasonable.

Ok thanks
Will the ECU be fine? It suffered interference and stalling from HIDs which I now got rid of..

Send the ecu in for test / repair along with the BSI unit

Right, who are the main dealers? As they have truely f****d you over
I spent over 4 hours on a W reg 206 but only charged half an hour as the fault was a dead ECU and i couldnt jusitify adding to an £1000 bill (if he had it done)
The car wont need 'stripping', as with the faults you have shown above it would log some fault across one of the ECU's, probably a U code (communication error). So at worst possible case it will need the occilloscope attached to see if any bad signals are being put across the CAN network.
BSi can be interchanged from another vehicle, but you will require the key, ECU and speedo

Spire Peugeot Dealer - Hatfield.
I visited my local auto electrician who mentioned they can do a "hard reboot" on the BSI and reset it to factory for a price of £85 and said Peugeot Planet is not something they use, can't remember the name but it gives a proper full diagnostic of the car's ECU/BSI unit and can exactly pin point why the BSI is not sending signals etc. Something PP / dealer does not do. But obviously I would be risking my money again as the BSI could be corrupt.
They also mentioned I can use my own ECU with second hand BSI (heard different to this) but will need my security code which I have and they can program it together.

i am sure most auto electrician can unlock ecu so as matching up ecu and bsi.
i can't say they will always fit the problem however they will have hell lot more experiences on those stuff than normal garage or dealer.

Right i can clarify here that it WILL not work, a BSi is a one find only and coded in par with the ECU
The hardware reset can be done yourself, if he is going on about what i think he is *disconnect the battery*cough*
But whats the point, as even if you 'flash' the memory it will cure jack s**te just prolong it
Yes, PPS does not show if the bsi is giving out crap signals but it can be tested with a scope quite easily. Dont get me wrong it could be as simple as Bsi, but then it could be something more in depth. I cant ideally help as much as i want to but any advice just ask
And yes i do work at a main stealers

Sounded like he knew what he was talking about but I don't know and I told him if the reset procedure is disconnecting the battery he said no. £85 to disconnect a battery to soft reboot the BSI is mad.
when you mean I can reset the hardware myself do you mean the normal reset procedure that is mentioned on this forum? Open drivers window, wait 3 minutes etc? is there a way to actually know if the BSI is corrupt without having to spend hundreds of pounds?
Got to feel pretty luck the non important electrics don't work. I can wait

If the Bsi is corrupt then you might be able to get it refurbed, i dont know, we just replace with new
If you can try one off another car, do try as its only a few minute job to swap all nessecry parts over. And yes that was the BSi reset i was going on about. The other im guessing it formats everything, but i dont see how that would work, as a corrupt signal cant just appear for no reason? Surely?

Silly really I might of caused while wiring which must of triggered a shirt circuit to the bsi while it was active who knows. Although it never happened before. But the alarm issue I think is a separate issue to the lights.
Can I go to scrap and pick ANY mutiplexed bsi and replace it and test the electrics with it? I know car won't start but this way I will know for sure. Otherwise an electrician can test the bsi £30 which is reasonable.
