Had my 206 tracked at about 3 places and each time I would drive it after and the steering wheel would be to the right by some degree and it would be pulling all over the place. Anyway after taking it the 4th place and paying yet another £25 they have actually explained to me why I kept having this problem. Its to do with the fact that the rear beam is out and as such, when the front wheels are tracked perfectly, the thrust angle on the back wheels was causing my car to veer to the left and basically handle like a bag of cow manure. So instead of tracking the front as it should be, the front has to be tracked (tow-in) to compensate for the back wheels. Yes this means my front tyres will wear a bit more quickly but my car now handles a lot better and the steering wheel is straight, thank goodness! So be warned next time you have any alignment work done on your car!

Is there not any way the car can handle and feel normal, AND the tyre wear to be normal ?

No, because the rear beam gets bent with age and its non-adjustable. You could overhaul the rear suspension but it would cost far too much money for me to even contemplate.

you should be able to get the geometry set up somewhere. it might be a little expensive, but then you know its all perfect.

ill need to get mine done. when i had it done before, the wheel was turned to the right and the car was pulling left. i took it to get done again and was told it was a mile out. but now the steering wheel is to the left and the car still pulls to the left slightly.

but as im sick of throwing money at the damn thing, ill be trading it in for a more reliable honda car if anything else goes wrong.

i had this problem at work on my 180 had to keep adjusting the fronts equal amounts so the front wheel alignment was right but the steering wheel was right turns out after having the problem on a few other cars our tracking gauges were actually bent lol

Well I think the geometry is as good as it can be now unless I spend a fortune getting the rear suspension overhauled. I had it done at a place with the Hunter alignment system and they showed me all the measurements on the computer as they were doing it. When it was done accurately to manufacturer's spec, the handling was awful because like I said, the back was out and it's non adjustable on the 206. I've already spent over £1000 on the damn thing since September and I like to think that there isn't actually anything else that needs doing on it now, save for a bit of rattle coming from the engine - think its coming from the tensioner pulley as I replaced the crankshaft pulley and belt last week!

Hi, i use the hunter alignment system at work. With any car to set the tracking properly you always start with the rear wheels then the front ones. With the hunter if the back axle is out of alignment it will automaticaly adjust the front wheel settings to compensate so the steering wheel will always point straight ahead when done. Also to do a 4 wheel alignment correctly on the 206 the car has to be strapped down (using ratchet straps) to the correct ride height 1st. It makes quite a difference to the readings.
Ps. Although you can't alter the toe on the rear wheels individually you can move the complete back axle as a unit (all be it by only a small amount) to adjust the total toe or 'thrust' as it's know. Smile
