Underneath the front valance on the GTi is a low slung metal pipe from the power steering reservoir. It sits just below the front splitter on mine at its lowest point.
Previous owner obviously knocked it on a speed bump or similar and there is a slight leek in the pipe. Struggling to get hold of one of these and wondered if I could cut an 18" length out and replace with a rubber hose so its flexible if it gets scraped. Pretty certain this is a low pressure pipe?
Probably a reason why I cant which is why I'm appealing to the greater knowledge of the forum

I'll let you know via pic or diagram but will be a few days. From memory may be an awkward shape to post??
Any thoughts on a rubber hose?

what about using hydraulic hose like whats used on tractor loaders? that there would sustain the pressure (if it was a high pressure pipe)

Well, thats what I was wondering, even if it was just the lowest part of the pipework it would be a bit more flexible if it catches anything. Just really wanted to confirm that it is possible or if there is a reason I can't do it. It would be a cheap repair if nothing else.

It's a black pipe. The pipe that is split runs parallel with the bottom of the front spoiler on mine.

Turns out that pipe is the radiator pipe to keep PAS fluid cool. Cut through it wit a pipe cutter and repaired with a bit of rubber hose and 2 jubilees. Seems to be holding up.

Is it the metal pipe that's split directly behind the bumper? I've got an immaculate one removed from my car.

£15+postage? It is very clean. It's not been cut off either and come with the hoses right up to the PAS pump and where it joins the metal pipe under the sump. All the clips were prized off so just need replacing with jubilee clips.
