Hi
I'm new to the fourm and Pug community so please bare with me...
I got my lx a few month ago, when i turn the engine on the trip meter reads my mileage 54950 then a spanner with 18000 which seemd to go down in 50s then a (i think) digital oil level display (please confirm) reading min000000max F
Now i went on a really long drive about 6 hours and now my spanner is at 2500 and the oil level at min000__max F. I assumed the spanner was counting down to my next service but why would this change to that number?
Any help appreciated - I dont own a manual for the car
Cheers

Taking a wild stab at the dark with a machete.. I'm probably completely wrong but.. do you need some oil?

Just had another look, the oil level is fine on the dip stick and is now reading min000000max F again.
But the service thing still says 2500

Wouldnt worry to much about the oil reading as thats not as accurate, dipstick is the true reading. and the service spanner, when i went on shortish drives its would go up and down so i wouldnt worry there only when it acctually needs servicing. Which mine did last month :). When was it serviced last?

Park on level ground and allow the car to stand for at least 15 mins. Open the bonnet and pull the dipstick out of the tube, wipe it on your t-shirt, put it back in the tube, take it out again and see where the oil level is compared to the 2 marks. If it is below the maximum, top up the oil, if it is below the minimum PANIC
The service indicator counts down on mileage and time. Don't panic about the numbers changing randomly, there is a known BSI bug. Just make sure that you change the oil every 10,000 milws or 12 months, whichever comes first, and give it a major service every 20,000 miles or 24 months.
