will a normal code reader reed it? and is it the black and green plug to the lower right of the steering wheel behind the panel and next to the fuse box. thanks

Yes it will read the P codes.

i have pluged a snep on code reader into the port where i said it is but the reader said no comunication?

Snap On are not the best at diagnostics Wink

Any 2004 onwards built diesel will be EOBD, any EOBD code reader should connect & be able to pull the fault codes from the memory.

NOTE: Ignition needs to be switched ON to get comms with the engine ecu else the immobiliser will block access to the code reader.

Peugeot Planet / Diagbox would be the ultimate thing to use on this.

yes i did have it switched on but not running. is that the correct plug then?

Yes.

Either try another EOBD code reader OR try & find someone with Peugeot Planet / Diagbox to scan it instead.

I take it the car runs but the diagnostic light is on?

the light comes onand goes off every other week. car runs the same. it was a little flat though the last time it came on, limp mode but then it was ok.

Find someone with Planet / Diagbox OR just buy Planet / Diabox yourself, it's best run on Windows XP.

Its the diagnostic leads that cost, the software is available free if you know where to look / who to ask BUT the software would come with the leads anyway.

If anyone intetested looks on amazon website they have a wide range of code readers ranging from £8.50. Upto £450.00 suiting all pockets but as the addage goes..you get what you pay for...
