Hi,

Changed the n/s wishbone on a 206 1.4 lx with the help of the guide someone kindly posted on this site. Was a bit of a struggle, leaked a tiny bit of gear oil but got it all back together in the end. However as I was putting the road wheel back on I slowly turned it and noticed a clicking coming from the drive shaft where it enters the gearbox. Upon closer inspection when you slowly turn the road wheel you can also feel a slight resistance, when you gently push against the resistance the drive shaft appears to push the gearbox housing away slightly.

As mentioned the drive shaft came out slightly whilst I was positioning the wishbone and I lost a few drips but slotted straight back in and apart from that it went ok. Have I fooked the drive shaft or gearbox or both? Crying or Very sad Just glad I noticed this before I took it for a test drive.

Any ideas would be most welcome.

Cheers,

Just bought my 1st 206

I really wish it was that simple. As you mention it did just slot back in fine. The wheel does turn but now clicks and underneath I can see the drive shaft shifting the gearbox very slightly as it turns. Incidentally, this is a genuine part (no 3520 G8) I was told it should fit.

Yeah cv boots are ok. Does it sound like I've rogered the drive shaft or just made a mistake somewhere putting the new wishbone back?

Hi, just had another look as it was getting a little dark last night. Clicking/grating when you spin the road wheel is coming from the inner cv joint so I take it this is screwed now and will need replacing?

I can't honestly see you damaging the cv joint unless its had quite a bang a strange one non the less. Putting it back on the floor and letting it settle might sort it is the drive shaft all the way in.

Yep drive shaft is fully home. Car has been down on floor overnight. Jacked it up again earlier to take another look and narrowed the clicking down to the inner joint
