Hi all,

I am looking to get my BSI changed over for another, I can't send my BSI away from repair as I need the car on daily basis and I can't get a second hand BSI to program with my ECU so looks like I have to get the lot, BSI, ECU, trans. locks etc.

I can buy the equipment but will it be an expensive job to replace and I won't be needing dealer for the job? Can they also change the mileage to what it was set to my old BSI?

Thanks

Isn't the mileage programmed and remembered by the speedo cluster?

I changed a BSI, ECU, and key on a D-Turbo 206 once, pretty sure the mileage stayed the same.

ON a multiplexed 206, the mileage is stored on both the BSI and the clocks. If your new BSI has more miles on it, then the clocks will show the new reading. If it has less, then it will stay as it is. Similarly if you change the clocks, it will always go to the higher reading. Don't know what would happen if you changed the dials and the BSI together. Guess it would still show the mileage from the donor vehicle.

On pre-plexed the mileage can be adjusted by putting clocks in with lower mileage or getting the storage chip reprogrammed.

I just bought this:
cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBay...#vi-ilComp

Can anyone pick out if it was removed from a 180 or normal GTI and is it expensive to install?

Thought the same but when I called up they didn't sound sure, if the BSI part number matches mine it should match and start no problem?
