I'm really confused right now, I'm looking at a matching BSI/ECU unit from the same model and same year but the model numbers are different on the BSI - does it matter?

It is sold WITHOUT the security code, do I need this also? As I will be picking out a matching BSI/ECU.

9649627780 from donor 180
9652474680 from my vehicle

Seller is saying the BSI will be exactly the same as it is from the same model vehicle, clearly not.

Now know there are different 180s, later model BSI from 04 onwards and has new trims also.

And scrap that for sure, the dealer will not be able to get the code from the units themselves as the transponder code is assigned to the vin of the donor car. So if anything goes wrong with the BSI again or need a new key they won't be able to be re-programmed.

1) If you have the VIN of the donor, you have the 4-digit code.
2) If you replace ECU/BSI + key there are no coding issues (eBay, 100 GBP)
3) It has to be the same system (mux/non-mux) but that's about it.
4) You might have to update some configs in the BSI like rain-sensor, dead-locking, alarm etc if the other car had different options. Check with SB under 'characteristics' with both VINs to compare equipment fitted.

My replacement BSI was different part number also, and no problems (non-mux).
Watch the milage though as yours is multiplexed system.

Got the whole lot for £150 that way can't go wrong, including module alarm hopefully this will stop the alarm going off when driving!

As for mileage I will take note of my current mileage I was told the mileage stays the same if the mileage of the BSI is lower and is set higher if BSI is higher? So highest mileage takes priority. Confused
