The op didnt explain properly that it was a memory issue, simply said it's not working and needed a permanent live...
Wasn't until later memory was the issue

Hi all.
Ive just installed a new Head Unit but it wont work.
Halfords have said i need to take the cable attatched the the rest of the cables to a perminant live? there is a ignition switch already there but i need a perminant live for the memory???
I have got the cable to under the steering wheel on my 206 but not sure how to identify a live?
i hate driving without music and i do alot of driving for work....
i start work again on wednesday so need this done asap!
any help would be appreciated!
Thanks |

Hi there, i had the same issue as i put in a sony head unit. When using a test meter on the car side of the wiring it showed i had a permanent live but after about 30 secs it turned of thus loosing all the settings. I had a few optins like running a live from the battery but i went for the easier option and spliced into the permanent live from the ignition barrel wiring (thick pink wire) and connected straighto the head units yellow wire. now all is fine.

Do you have a connector like this?
You need red going into yellow |
Hi mate, to swap these over, do you just pull them out of the connectors? I've never dealt with electronics before, so don't want to force something and break it lol, cheers.

Ha yes true. Thanks again, you've saved me roughly 1 minute of setting adjustment per journey for the entire time I have the car.
